Host Profile: White Shorts

What's the name of your show? Society Probs

What's your show about and when does it air? Society Probs goes deep into social issues. Me and my co-host (MoeTheBro) talk about the probs with society locally as well as globally. We want to start conversations about the issues we face day-to-day, and what we think about them. We air every Monday from 9 pm-10 pm.

Is there a story behind your on-air name?  White Shorts has been my nickname since starting at Kettering. It started off as a way for people to make fun of me, but turned into a form of empowerment for me.

How long has your show been on the air? Since 8/8/2016. New to the radio, with a lot of energy!

Tell us about a funny incident that happened during your show. Oh boy. Our second show, which aired 8/15/2016, started out a little patchy. This was our first show by ourselves so we didn't really have a strong repetition and use of the board. We started on time and with our normal energy. However, we didn't realize that for the entire first half of our show, WKUF's automated playlist was playing in the background. This probably sounded cool as MoeTheBro and I were talking over a quiet 80's tune, until we went to play a modern pop song. Yes, inexperience is a funny thing sometimes.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I love baking. I have a secret chocolate chip cookie recipe that I'm told doesn't disappoint. Catch me when I'm stressed out or bored, and I might bake you a treat!

Have you gotten any funny calls during your show? Not yet, but i'm excitedly awaiting one!

If you knew you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could choose only 10 songs, what would they be?

  1. Scars- James Bay
  2. If You Ever Want to Be In Love- James Bay
  3. Best Fake Smile- James Bay
  4. Move Together- James Bay
  5. Let It Go- James Bay
  6. Hold Back The River- James Bay
  7. Bad Intentions- Niykee Heaton
  8. Stronger- Kanye West
  9. Slow Dancing in a Burning Room- John Mayer
  10. Weekend- Mac Miller (Feat. Miguel)

Odd mix, but I can't live without my James Bay or Kanye West!

What is one of your most memorable concert experiences? I saw Ke$ha and LMFAO live. That was a trip, but my all-time favorite concert was seeing The Backstreet Boys with a bunch of friends from high school. Nothing like listening to some music that makes you think of when you were younger!

Tell us something about yourself that people might find surprising. I love working on cars!

In the movie "WKUF: The Untold Story", who would you cast as yourself? Daenerys Targaryen
